My attempt of squeezing 3modules worth of revision into 2 days failed terribly. :(
argh, forget it, it'll just mean triple times the mugging intensity for the next few days.

what more to do when you have
FIVE freaking modules in THREE DAYS, STRAIGHT.
I'd give whatever I can to just take a few days more to end it
than to have everything crammed together.

been sitting at the same spot for almost the whole day that I think I have my butt glued to the seat. :(

anyway, I was in the animal lab for almost 8 hours last friday.
9am - 12pm: Husbandry duty
12 - 3pm: LAST Lab session
3 - 4plus: continued with husbandry

SUPER DUPER TIRING I TELL YOU
(partly cos I only had about 1hour of proper sleep the day before)
but still, husbandry was quite fun. heh.
one more duty after we return from termbreak & my group's done! (:

We had mice for our LAST lab session.
the mice were soooooo cute that I feel like smuggling one back home. xD
they look like stuart little, but definitely much cuter than that.
but I pity them cos... *gives long sigh & shakes head*

restraining a mouse is so scary cos you'll never know when you're gonna just crush it accidentally.
yeah, it's so small that you can hide 2 of it if you cover your palm over them.
but well, shanru & my mouse is easy to handle, so not much of a problem (yet).
I hope it stays that way. (:

ARGH, I'M BADLY IN NEED OF SOMEONE TO DESTRESS ME NOW.

RTechB lab took more than 3hours today! :(
was supposed to be 3-6pm.
in the end, we finished lab at around 645pm.

by the time I got home, it's almost 9!
and after washing up & everything, it's already 10plus.

it's when you're in this kind of situation that you wished that school wasn't that far.
& especially so for this semester. ):
I end at 6pm (or later) for 3 days in a week, and wake up at 530am for 3 days!
come on school, how no life can you get? you're killing meeeeee!

& I have to wake up at 530am tmr morning cos I've gotta be in school at 9am for husbandry duty. how cool is this, tell me.

This whole week is crap.
waking up at 530am for 4 days, and ending school late for everyday except for tuesday.
COOOOOOL RIGHT. :(

entered the lab today and the anaesthetised rats that weren't enthanized yet were all in the container at the front of the class.

faint breathing in some, & no movement from others.

agenda for the day:
1. Practise restraining it to do IP injection
2. anaesthetise it to draw blood from the tail
3. & orbital sinus (eyes)
4. & also from the heart
followed by the euthanizing of the rat.

the rats were still active, alive, kicking, jumping, chewing & whatever.
but all it took was just a few seconds to inject the anaesthesia,
and a minute for it to go all soft & limp.
(seeing that really pained me alot than euthanizing it)

really tired now, so I'm just gonna stop here.
& termtest timetable is out ): gotta start my hardcore mugging soon.
my goodness, I can't believe how quickly these 5 weeks had passed!

it's funny how I'm grumbling about having to go to school & everything
but I think I'm enjoying school more right now, compared to all the previous semesters.
maybe partly because I'm around most of the people that I'm closer with right now.
and also, the things that I'm studying now seems to make more sense to me than before.
though I still get lost during lessons every now and then, but I think it's better alrdy.

& somehow, MGEN doesnt seem to be that hard to me now.
(I hope that it applies for all the topics that're not taught yet)

LAST Lab on friday was some nerve-wrecking 3hours for both the rats & us. (more for the poor rats)

- rat restraining
- injection
- ear notching/punching (which sicko invented this huh!)

First 2 wasn't too much of a problem. Just that shanru & I got this super hyperactive rat which loved walking around the cage's edges alot.

Ear notching was madddddd. D:
It's used to identify the rats (also for mouse)
& it's like making a permanent "tag" on their ears.

CRACK!
in our cass! hahahhaha.

okay, crack is not enough describe how loud it was.
maybe I shld say that it went BOM!

the moment it made that sound, you see all the people around the centrifue siam like a bullet.
haha, quite funny to see a sudden clearing of about 3m around the microcentrifuge.
amanda said she saw something fly out, but I didnt! :(
didn't went to see how's the damage like, but I think it's proably gonna have cracks and lots of loose parts.

my table was balancing a lot of tubes of different weight in our centrifuge when it happened.
haha, makes it even scarier to do our centrifugation. :\

okay, so now I've seen/heard a blown microcentrifuge
and a super mini-fire in the school lab.
just short of a flying centrifuge right! hahahaha! :DD
but I don't wanna see that. cos if it happens, it might get someone injured like crap.

Cheryl says that Dr. JasonChang is definitely gonna emphasize about microcentrifuge safety during their session tmr.
hahahahah, I bet he will.
After one blown microcentrifuge, I think he'll lose his mind if another one blows up.

and by the way, we nearly did that.

his didn't blow, but it made that super scary noise.

That was the first and the last time.
haven't loaded anything in poly although we've done it plenty of times. :\

the gel slid of the surface, then he stopped it halfway, but couldnt get it back on the plate without something to push it.

then we keeping disturbing him.

I think we all define them differently, and we do different things with different "types" of friends. like you'll share your problems with your best/close friends, but you'll never reveal your secret to the acquaintances.

What if you feel like ABC is being too close to you because you're not exactly seeing him/her the same way as he/she sees you?
Or that you're trying hard to know your friend better but it seems like he/she is not that interested in doing so?


don't you wish that you can just "talk" to someone through the thoughts in your head?
Like maybe, I look & focus at you, and I can know what you're thinking.
There's pros & cons to it like any other thing
but if you don't misuse it, I don't see anything bad about it.

It's 3 weeks into school & I'm starting to feel the drain! ):
quizzes are beginning to come in (from 4th week onwards)
and deadlines upon deadlines are soon gonna come.
especially for CSAS even though ms chew keeps emphasizing that it's a 3CU mod
I still can't help but feel stressed about it. (& the presentation tmr)
damn, I never fail to forget everything that I wanna say when I've got so many eyes staring at me. ):

we finally got to attend our first LAST practical! :D
we were taught the different techniques of doing an injections and how to handle a rabbit.
The handling of the rabbit was fine for me. (yayyyy!)
I could get it out of the cage and get it back in
but not w/o that tiny scratch I got cos I couldnt hold the rabbit properly due to the space constraint of the cage. (I know my arms are not that long, but it's still not big enough for me to confortably position my hands to carry it out)

ahhh, whatever it is, I think my group is quite okay with rabbit-handling.

we had to do 3 different kinds of injections - Intramuscular (IM), Subcutaneous (SC) and Intradermal (ID)

IM was done by shanru
and sylvia (from vet tech) told us that her rabbit struggled for IM.
lol, everyone got so scared but in the end, the IM jab was done without it putting up a struggle.
:):)

SC is done by yingping & cherilynn (is that how you spell her name?)
and me, being left with no choice, did ID.
ID is scary mann. cos we have to shave it and then inject into the skin.
and when you do ID, the skin will bulge after the injection cos of the fluid.
it's scary just by looking at it. :\

but anyways, I managed to perform the injection successfully! (to my surprise)
yay! very happy! hahaha. :D

anyway, after the whole lab,
I srsly feel really really sad & scared for the rabbits when X was handling them.
I'd run if I'm the rabbit that she's handling.
be it just carrying, or doing the injection. :\

well, I guess we all have to overcome whatever phobia we're having when we do these stuff.
like for me, I can never imagine myself doing an injection on anything, but I still did it on my first attempt.
(get it over and done with on the first attempt, rather than doing it over and over again and get the animal traumatised)

well, at the end of the 3 hours
I'm definitely looking forward to the next LAST practical to learn something new! heh. :D
(I don't look forward to other practical sessions cos I'm lost most of the time)
& thank God for sylvia who was helping our group quite alot. hahaha.

I really hate it when I'm lost during lab sessions, cos you're supposed to learn more because you're doing hands on. but it always turned out to be something that can just deplete my energy totally.

ohyesssss! I need to get a new bag badly!
and I can't find a bag that I want! :(

mel says that I'm very troublesome cos I've got a long list of requirements for my bag.

What kind of bag do I need?
- Big (but not too big)
- must not be too girlish/boyish! (everything I have, has to have this requirement. hahaha)
- colour: must not be hard to match & it musnt get dirty easily
- shoulder bag (cum sling bag would be best)
- compartments! would definitely add some plus points to it:D
- affordable! (below $50?)

to me, being tall is something of the past arldy.
cos right now, I think my height is quite a common sight.
before sec1, I was tall compared to my friends.
but after sec1 or sec2, I think I never grew any taller. :\
even angela lai who was much shorter than me grew to be so much taller than me now.

but I'm satisfied with my height.

I tried to search online, but gave up.
haha, but I saw something like Magneto healed his spine, so he could walk again.
(apparently, Charles Xavier wasn't born paraplegic, but he was injured that's why he can't walk)
but whatever it is, I don't care lah. hahahaha.

okay, anyway, school's been alright so far. (still surviving)
at the beginning of this semester, I thought about a few goals/rules that I wanna stick to & I hope I can. heh.

some of them would be things like
1. be punctual for school & try not to miss any lectures
so far, still not too bad lah cos I've been able to catch the shuttle bus from tampines. means I'm not late/too late.
2. not to eat too much junk food during breaks
cos I think the start of school marks the start of a junkie-stomach. haha.

results-wise, I haven't really thought of the grades lah
but I definitely wanna pass everything w/o supp papers too!
and I pray hard that this term will be much better than last term! :D

I really think I'm taking tooooooo long to adapt to poly.
I'm only beginning to adapt to the things that I'm learning & doing during the last few moments of being a year 2.2 student.
idk why, but it's srsly slow. ):
right now, I wish I can restart as a year1, with a clean sheet of record & results.
